Curriculum
Design
At
a threshold level, the design, implementation and review of all
our curricula follow the University's system of programme approval,
annual programme review, and monitoring by external examiners and
the School Advisory Committee (SAC). But on top of those, we also
actively solicit valuable inputs from a wide range of stakeholders,
including members of the SAC, prospective employers, prospective
students, graduates, and officials of professional bodies. These
processes help us maintain the 'academic rigour' and 'professional
relevance' of our programmes by closely integrating both theory
and practice into our curricula.
While
the aforesaid mechanisms provide effective quality controls in designing
new curriculums, we believe that greater values can be generated
if more attention and thought are given to their implementation.
For instance, the SAC provides us with a valuable link to practitioners,
through which we can solicit their pragmatic advice on matters related
to our programmes and curricula. In addition to the university-wide
Student Feedback Questionnaire that relates more to the delivery
of curricula, the School performs its own "Exit Survey"
targeted at immediate graduates. It assesses the effectiveness of
our programmes in preparing graduates for their career development.
An alternate exit survey on major employers is also conducted to
solicit the market's view on the same matter.
