Consistent
with our University's development in teaching methodology, the School
emphasizes student-centered learning and active learning, with the
introduction of IT being an essential tool, and strongly encourages
the adoption of problem-based learning approach in teaching. To
keep abreast of current developments in the accountancy profession,
all staff members are encouraged to serve on relevant professional
bodies that are endorsed by the School. Furthermore, a number of
staff has been actively involved in strengthening our network with
the professional community in Hong Kong and mainland China.
Apart
from classroom contacts, staff-student interaction outside of the
classroom is also maintained - with staff members providing students
with consultation on subject matters, and acting as class tutors
for student groups. In emphasizing the provision of all-round training
for our students, we also encourage student learning through participation
in activities organized or sponsored by the School. These activities
include the academic forum, field visits to stock exchanges and
CPA firms, the Know-My-Motherland Programme, student mentoring,
student exchange, leadership development, summer internship, and
study tours to universities in China. Staff support for these activities
are provided by way of staff members giving advice to the student
society as well as by means of staff members actually organizing
or hosting the functions.
We
are justifiably proud that the notion of quality teaching and learning
has been firmly established in the School. This notion is supported
by various mechanisms as discussed. Most importantly, we have been
actively promoting the significance of teaching and learning activities
by relentlessly seeking out the views and feedbacks from our various
stakeholders including students, graduates, practitioners, professional
bodies, governmental bodies as well as current and potential employers
of our well-accepted graduates.
